Woman killed in solo crash near Silva Valley Parkway

EL DORADO HILLS — A second deadly crash along the Highway 50 corridor in El Dorado Hills occurred early Wednesday, less than a day after a separate fatal collision closed lanes and backed up traffic in the same area.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers were dispatched to the westbound side of Highway 50 at Silva Valley Parkway following reports of a serious crash. Investigators later determined the collision likely took place between 2 and 3 a.m.

CHP officials said a woman was driving alone when her vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Unlike Tuesday afternoon’s fatal crash on eastbound Highway 50 along the Bass Lake Grade, officials said Wednesday’s collision did not appear to cause major freeway traffic disruptions.

The incident marks the second fatality along Highway 50 near Silva Valley Parkway within a 24-hour period. On Tuesday afternoon, a man was killed after his pickup truck went through a guardrail and down an embankment on eastbound Highway 50, prompting a major crash investigation and lane closures that significantly affected traffic.
