RANCHO CORDOVA – Fire crews battled a multi-housing structure fire for the second time in less than 24 hours early Wednesday morning in Rancho Cordova, where fast moving flames heavily damaged an apartment building and displaced several residents.n
Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District was dispatched to the fire that broke out around 1:56 a.m. at Babu’s Villa Apartments on Mills Tower Drive, located south of Folsom Boulevard. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered intense flames emanating from two of the eight units within the building, according to the department.
The fire, believed to have originated on a balcony before spreading, was knocked down by responding crews without the report of any injuries. Firefighters remained on scene into the daylight hours Wednesday to ensure there were no hot spots fire within the structure.
The incident marks the second fire at an apartment complex in Rancho Cordova in less than 24 hours and is the third in Sacramento County in he same time period.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. An estimated eight residents have been displaced from the building, which houses a total of 13 individuals. Temporary housing assistance is being arranged for those affected by the incident.
