FOLSOM – A suspect was taken into custody and more than $1,600 in stolen property has been recovered following a shoplifting arrest at the Folsom Premium Outlets on Saturday.

According to Folsom Police, officers patrolling the outlets on September 27 observed two individuals leaving the Nike store carrying multiple boxes of shoes. When approached, the pair dropped the merchandise and attempted to flee.

One suspect, identified as 31-year-old Jerrell Collis of Sacramento, was taken into custody and booked on felony theft charges. The second suspect managed to escape, but police said the individual has been identified and charges are expected to follow.

A search of the suspects’ vehicle revealed additional merchandise taken from Nordstrom Rack just 15 minutes before the Nike theft. In total, police recovered more than $1,600 worth of stolen goods, all of which have been returned to the businesses.

Police said Saturday’s arrest highlights the importance of proactive policing in combatting retail theft at the popular shopping center. “Another retail theft was stopped in progress and accountability is underway,” the department stated.

This incident follows other recent shoplifting arrests at the Folsom Premium Outlets, where police have maintained an increased presence to deter retail crime and protect businesses.
