Having trouble accessing your Facebook or Instagram this morning?  You were not alone. Social media platforms under the Meta brand, including Facebook and Instagam began experiencing widespread technical problems Tuesday morning, with thousands of users logging errors in accessing the social media services across the nation for over an hour.

Users were reporting problems accessing the platforms, including being logged out of Facebook after suddenly receiving a message “session expired.” According to the online monitoring service Downdetector, the issues began shortly after 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.  Instragram users are reportedly able to access their accounts, but unable to view their feeds or previous posts.

DownDetector showed more than 525,000 users had reported having problems as of 8:20 a.m. Facebook turned to X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday morning to address the issue to its users, “We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now,” reads a statement from Meta spokesperson Andy Stone.

Shortly after 8:30 a.m., users began to have their access restored. Representatives from Meta had not yet explained what caused the issue at that time.
