Things aren’t only heating up outside this weekend, when it comes to local live entertainment, Powerhouse Pub offers a full slate of entertainment over the weekend ahead with four different bands taking to its stage over three days. Friday night will kick things off with Power Play returning to the Historic Folsom venue as the headliner Friday night following a 7:00 p.m.TGIF Early Show opener Led Balloon, a tribute to Led Zeppelin.

Power Play has long been bannered as one of the region’s most dynamic dance party bands. The group has several stellar voices that can cover everything from Lady Gaga, to Johnny Cash, to Eminem and a multitude of artists in between. The band is known for its high energy and performs top 40 hits that are sure to get you on the dance floor. Powerplay lights up the stage Friday at 10:00 p.m.

On Saturday, the fun begins with the Powerhouse Saturday Afternoon Dance Party.  This week’s early Saturday show feature’s Rootsafari, El Dorado County’s top reggae band. Rootsafari takes the stage at 3:00 p.m.  

At 10 p.m. on Saturday, Adam Aldama is back and this time brings his Y2K Live show to the stage. The group will be performing all those fun throwback hits from Backstreet Boys, N’sync, Britney Spears, J-Lo, Lil Jon, Usher, Will Smith, Smash Mouth, Blink-182, and more.

On Sunday afternoon, it’s the weekly Powerhouse of Blues show hitting the stage. This week blues fans can enjoy a great afternoon of lowdown blues in Mick Martin presents the Dixie Drifters at 3:00 p.m.

According to the Powerhouse show billing, it was during the Covid 19 pandemic that Kyle Rowland decided to produce a traditional blues record featuring his mentor, Mick Martin. Rowland, who plays upright bass, percussion and guitar, and colleague Todd Morgan, who is a multi-instrumentalist teamed up with singer with Andrew Little playing on various guitar styles to provide an assortment of danceable traditional blues songs were chosen complimenting Martin’s unique style while paying tribute to the musicians of the past.

Recorded on an analog tape machine and using the highest quality microphones and equipment from the 1940s-1960s, the essence of Come On if You’re Comin’ came to life. The four men were so pleased with the results, they decided to take the show on the road and Sunday, fans get the chance to experience at Powerhouse.
