Roadway expected to remain shut down through Tuesday as storms continue

Ongoing rainfall across the region has forced city officials to close a section of Sibley Street in both directions Monday after flooding across the roadway has made it impassable and unsafe.

According to a traffic alert issued by the City of Folsom, Sibley Street is closed between Levy Road and Blue Ravine Road due to standing water across the roadway. The closure went into effect as steady rains continued to impact local streets and low-lying areas.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes while crews monitor conditions. The roadway is expected to remain closed to traffic through Tuesday, Feb. 17, as additional rain is forecast and water levels remain high.

City officials remind motorists not to attempt to drive through flooded roadways, as even shallow water can create hazardous conditions and potential vehicle damage. Residents are encouraged to allow extra travel time and remain alert for additional weather-related closures as the storm system moves through the region.
