FOLSOM — The golden age of radio returns to life in Historic Folsom next weekend as Sutter Street Theatre presents “The Olde Tyme Radio Show,” a family-friendly production celebrating classic broadcasts of the 1930s, 40s and 50s. The live performance takes place Saturday, September 13, at 4 p.m. inside the intimate Sutter Street Theatre, located at 717 Sutter Street. Tickets are just $10 and are payable at the door with general seating available.

Audiences can expect an authentic recreation of the era’s most beloved radio programs, complete with costumed actors, period scripts, and a live Foley artist who will provide the sound effects using the tools and techniques of yesteryear. The show’s lineup includes three iconic selections from the archives of American entertainment.

Among them is Dragnet’s “The Big Sisters,” which first aired May 31, 1955, bringing to life the gritty police procedural that became a cultural phenomenon. Also on tap is The Bickersons with “The Honeymoon Is Over,” circa 1948, a sharp-witted domestic comedy about bickering newlyweds. Rounding out the bill is Our Miss Brooks in “Weekend at Crystal Lake,” a lighthearted tale originally broadcast around 1938 that captures the humorous trials of a beloved fictional schoolteacher.

With its blend of comedy, suspense and nostalgia, the show offers a rare chance for today’s audiences to experience the entertainment that captivated households before the rise of television. Families, history buffs, and theater lovers alike are invited to gather for an afternoon of laughter, drama and vintage radio magic.
