The City of Folsom’s Summer of Music Series resumes this Friday night. Presented by the Folsom Parks and Recreation District each year, the Summer of Music is a four-night series spanning June and July that takes to the gazebo stage at Folsom City Lions Park, bringing area residents another family friendly free option to get outside and enjoy live music. 

Friday’s event will welcome Peter Morgan to the gazebo stage, Morgan is always a fan favorite when it comes to the concerts on the green at city park. 

Morgan is known for composing and performing unique original contemporary jazz instrumentals delivered in a coastal smooth jazz style, spiced a dash of blues that is Morgan’s signature sound. According to his music bio, the talented artist has produced all six of his albums showcasing his skills on guitar, harmonica, bass, keyboards, lap steel, dobro, pedal steel, pan flute, ukulele, percussion and vocals. 

Morgan has performed alongside some of the biggest names in jazz including Fattburger, Michael McDonald, trumpeter Chris Botti and keyboardist Phillipe Saisse to name a few. Peter has performed numerous times at the Sacramento Jazz festival, the world’s largest jazz festival.

In addition to the big names he has shared the stage with, Morgan has an impressive musical resume. Some of the highlights include receiving national exposure as the music director for a number of public television specials including The Boston Computer Museum’s Computer Bowl and The Software Publishers Associations 10th annual Excellence in Software Codie Awards. Both broadcast on PBS’ Computer Chronicles. He also recently performed on a song that was used on the WB Network’s hit show Hart of Dixie.

Folsom City Park, also known as Lions Park, is  located near city hall and next to the Folsom Public Library at 411 Stafford Street in Folsom. The concerts take place from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on their scheduled nights.  At all of the Summer of Music concerts the motto is come for the music but stay for the fun. This Friday, food trucks and vendors will be serving up plenty of grub and delights to enjoy during the show to make it a date or a fun family night.

Following this Friday night, the concert series will welcome the  R&B of Innersoul on July 12 and the rock band Modern Relics on July 26.

I addition to the live music, a number of well-known area food trucks will be on site with plenty of tasty eats and sweets.  Pumping Irony will hit the stage starting at 7and will continue to 9 p.m.
