Saturday night, Powerhouse Pub in Historic Folsom turns into the region’s ultimate dance floor when Northern California’s electrifying party band Superbad returns to headline the weekend with their signature high-energy blend of funk, soul, and timeless grooves. Known for commanding any stage they step on—from private events to sold-out outdoor festivals—Superbad continues to raise the bar for live entertainment, and Folsom fans are in for a night to remember.

Led by the larger-than-life Henry Lange, a six-foot-six frontman with unstoppable charisma, Superbad is built to entertain. “My job is to bring that energy to everyone in the room,” says Lange. He means it. Whether it’s a packed casino showroom or an amphitheater crowd under the stars, Lange’s interaction with fans, his spontaneous showmanship, and his commitment to feel-good music have made Superbad one of California’s most in-demand acts.

The band’s musical versatility is a major part of their success. Superbad brings a nonstop setlist of hits from the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s and today, with everything from funk and soul to pop and dance anthems. “We continuously work at keeping with current musical trends,” Lange explains. “We put a modern spin on a strong collection of standards in our repertoire.”

And the results speak for themselves. Just in the past month, Superbad has drawn capacity crowds at two of the region’s biggest summer series: Folsom’s Summer of Music at City Lions Park and El Dorado Hills’ Live on the Boulevard concert series. With a reputation for turning every venue into a party, the band brings that same energy to their Saturday night set at Powerhouse.

Although Superbad is a four-piece band, their sound is anything but small. Cris Snyder (bass/vocals) and Dawson Nichols (drums) provide a rock-solid rhythm section, laying the foundation for guitarist Evan McKee to work his magic on the top end. From Motown-inspired riffs to jazz-tinged solos, McKee’s versatile playing adds rich texture and nuance to each song. “We like spontaneity,” says Lange. “So every performance is exciting and different.”

Beyond their musicianship, Superbad uses cutting-edge sequencing and digital arrangements to recreate horn sections and orchestral parts live, allowing them to expand their sound in real time and take on just about any request. Their adaptability and polished delivery have landed them gigs at high-profile venues like Thunder Valley Casino, Cache Creek Casino Resort, The Fox Theatre in Redwood City, and corporate events for companies like Microsoft and Quixey.

Lange and his band members will tale the stage tonight at 10 p.m.. Prior to Superbad igniting the stage, the Saturday Afternoon Dance Party gets things going earlier in the day, with the  Sunset River Band. Known for their dynamic stage presence and infectious energy, Sunset River sets the tone for a full day and night of music.
