After a near month long investigation, the El Dorado County Sheriffs Department (EDSO) has reported that two are now in custody that are reportedly connected to a series of car burglaries in El Dorado Hills, resulting in identity theft and acts of credit card fraud

In early February, EDSO Detectives began investigating a series of thefts that occurred in El Dorado Hills in which the suspects burglarized several vehicles and then stole a vehicle.

After the thefts occurred, the victims learned their credits cards had been used at numerous retail locations in Rancho Cordova. Through the course of the investigation a suspect was identified as 36-year-old Amber Cunningham of Sacramento, according to the report from the EDSO.

Cunningham was caught on surveillance video from several retail locations committing identity theft via unlawful use of the victim’s credit cards. Based on the investigation, an arrest warrant was issued  and a search warrant was issued for the suspect’s residence.

During the service of the warrants, Cunningham was located and taken into custody. Items that had been stolen from the victims were located and evidence further linking Amber to the initial thefts and subsequent identity thefts was located.

A second suspect was identified during the service of the warrant as 36-year-old Johnathan Reelfs of Sacramento. Reelfs was found to be in custody in another jurisdiction on other charges. EDSO Detectives  have since contacted Reelfs and the investigation related to his involvement in this case is ongoing, according to the report.
