Sutter Health is the latest medical provider to announce it has plans to expand into the City of Folsom. The healthcare provider is planning to open a 106,000 square foot Ambulatory facility near the intersection of Iron Point Road and East Bidwell Street.
“This facility, set to open in 2026, is designed to cater to a wide range of medical needs, bringing together cutting-edge technology and a comprehensive array of medical specialties all under one roof,” said Folsom Mayor Mike Kozlowski, who spoke about the new facility in his recent State of the City address. “Facility highlights include a cancer center, ambulatory surgical center, medical office space, urgent care, and more.”
With the announcement of Sutter Health’s addition to the city, Folsom is soon to become a “healthcare hub,” as Kozlowski noted. Sutter Health will be the third different provider to expand its services in the community ahead.
Dignity Health, a longtime healthcare provider with roots in Folsom, has already begun grading and construction on its new state-of-the-art medical complex on a 27-acre site at the northeast corner of East Bidwell Street and Alder Creek Parkway, which is south of Highway 50. The project includes an acute care hospital with 300 beds, a ground-level heliport facility, and two medical office buildings.
UC Davis began construction of their new Folsom Medical Office Building mid-summer. It’s the first of several projects planned for the 34-acre site at Highway 50 and East Bidwell, all part of what will be called the Folsom Center for Health. Plans call for an outpatient medical office building and, in the future, a micro-hospital, an ambulatory surgery center, and a hotel.
Additionally, longtime Folsom provider Kaiser Permanente continues its expansion with plans submitted for a four-story state-of-the-art medical office building next to its existing ambulatory surgical center on Palladio Parkway.
“Our city is becoming a healthcare hub,” said Kozlowski. “New medical facilities provide expanded quality healthcare to Folsom residents, bring high-quality jobs to our community, and strengthen our local economy.”
Headquartered in Sacramento, Sutter Health currently provides care to more over three million California residents and continues to grow. The provider prides itself on “creating a connected model of care that is delivering coordinated healthcare when, where and how people need it,” according to its mission statement.
“Sutter continues making progress on expanding capacity to care for more patients, and one of the latest examples will be a 106,000-square-foot Sutter Health Ambulatory Care Center in Folsom,” Sutter Healthcare released in a statement following the mayor’s recent announcement. “The site will provide easy access off Highway 50 for patients and families in Sacramento and El Dorado counties.”
The new site will be part of the the Broadstone Crossing development that stretches along East Bidwell. The earlier phase of Broadstone Crossing includes the Broadstone Villas, a 257-unit apartment project that are already under construction.
Additional components will include a 48,840 square foot office building and another 45,400 square foot building, plus the three-story medical office building on the site that is just under 19 acres in size.
In addition to the aforementioned features, the facility is expected to offer primary and specialty care services, an urgent care center and diagnostic imaging.
