Powerhouse Pub in Historic Folsom has a busy weekend ahead, featuring three straight days of live music spanning a variety of genres. The weekend also includes a special alumni event for Chico State University.

Aldama and The Aces debuted their first show together in March 2021 at Mango’s nightclub in downtown Sacramento. Since then, the group has been performing consistently throughout California at clubs, private events, and festivals. Saturday, Dec. 14, begins with Echo Summit performing at 3 p.m. during the Saturday Afternoon Dance Party. This premium eclectic rock band will set the tone for an upbeat day. That evening at 10 p.m., the Night Fever Disco Party brings retro vibes to the dance floor. This five-piece band transports audiences back to the disco era with hits from the Bee Gees, Donna Summer, KC & The Sunshine Band, and more. Expect glittering energy, groovy beats, and a nostalgic atmosphere.

The weekend wraps up Sunday, Dec. 15, with Powerhouse of Blues featuring Lydia Pense & Cold Blood. Pense, a trailblazer in the Bay Area music scene for over five decades, has been instrumental in shaping the “East Bay Grease” sound—a fusion of funk, R&B, soul, and rock.

Born in San Francisco, Pense grew up surrounded by music and was inspired by artists such as Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles. By her early teens, she was performing in local clubs, developing the distinctive voice that would later define her career. In 1968, she joined Cold Blood, a band known for its powerful horn section and dynamic live performances. Hits like “You Got Me Hummin’” and “I Just Want to Make Love to You” earned the group critical acclaim and a devoted fan base.
