When country music star Tim McGraw first announced the cities that would host dates for his upcoming Standing Room Only Tour, local fans weren’t, “liking it or loving it,” so much as California wasn’t on the list of stops. That changed this week as McGraw added 11 dates to his 2024 tour, including a June 29 appearance at Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center. Ticket prices for the concert start at $95 and are scheduled to go on Friday at 10 a.m online at www.golden1center.com.

McGraw also announced that Carly Pearce will accompany him on the upcoming tour, including the date in Sacramento, a city that hosted McGraw back in 1994 when he when he performed on a small stage at the California State Fair just days after his breakthrough song “Indian Outlaw,” began soaring on the charts across the country. From there, the shows and the crowds just kept getting bigger.  Last October he played to a sold-out crowd for the 2022 Golden Sky Music Festival, leading a cavalcade of country artists.

As McGraw follows his recently released 17th album that carries the same title as his tour by hitting the road once again to connect with his fans, he brings a stellar resume to every stage his boots walk on, including being the most recent recipient of the Icon Award.  According to McGraw, the Standing Room Only album, as well as the tour features a collection of songs that are much about purpose in life, including that of himself.

“There is a reason that we’re here. There is good, there is light, there are plenty of people out there who care, and plenty of people out there who just want the motivation to do that, including me,” says McGraw. “I can get very insular and isolated, and like it. Especially over the last three years or so, but you have to force yourself to go out there and not get lost inside your own head.”

During his college years, McGraw started playing guitar and performed at smaller venues to make some money. It wasn’t long until he decided to quit school, pack his bags and move to Music City to pursue what he had grown to love so much.

“I was in pre-law in college. And then I discovered playing guitar. I finally had to make a phone call to my mom and say, ‘I’m going to drop out of college, sell everything I have and move to Nashville,” McGraw explained in a previous Music Row Magazine interview.

At that moment in his life, McGraw expected his mother to launch an appeal to his plans on the other end of the phone, but much to his surprise, she told him if he didn’t do it, he would likely regret that decision later.

In 1993, McGraw released his debut album, simply titled “Tim McGraw,” which wasn’t received as anticipated by critics and fans. Despite the setback, McGraw pushed forward and began working on his second album, “Not a Moment too Soon.” Upon its launch, McGraw was on his way to becoming one of country music’s all-time greats who remains humble and appreciative of his success decades later.

Today, McGraw has sold more than 80-million records worldwide and dominated the charts with 44 worldwide No. 1 singles. He has won three Grammy Awards, 16 Academy of Country Music Awards and 14 Country Music Association Awards.

Some of McGraw’s career achievements include being named Radio’s Most Played Artist of the Decade for all music genres and having the Most Played Song of the Decade title for all music genres. He is the most played country artist since his debut, with two singles spending more than 10 weeks at the number one spot. His career-long tour successes include the record-setting “Soul2Soul Tour” with his wife, Faith Hill that sold more than 950,000 tickets.

McGraw starred in and narrated the hit movie “The Shack” and co-wrote and performed the closing credit song for the Oscar nominated documentary “Free Solo.” His other movie credits include “Friday Night Lights” and “The Blind Side.” McGraw starred beside Sam Elliott and his wife in the Yellowstone prequel and most recently the show “1883,” which launched as the biggest new cable premiere since 2015.

Pearce came into the national country music scene in 2017 when her song Every Little Thing grew in popularity, starting on satellite radio. The song helped Pearce secure a major label recording contract and became a major hit, reaching number one on the Billboard country chart. Her debut album of the same name later debuted in the top five of the Billboard charts.

In September of 2021 Pearce released her third studio album and is now a three-time Country Music Association award winner, a four-time Academy of Country Music Award winner. She has earned one Country Music Television Award, one Grammy  and became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 2021.
