FOLSOM – Folsom will come together once again this morning to salute those who have served our nation as the city hosts the 25th annual Wayne Spence Folsom Veterans Day Parade. The milestone event begins at 9 a.m. and is expected to draw thousands of spectators and more than 2,000 participants in a community-wide tribute to veterans past and present.
For those who can’t make it out in person, Folsom Times will present a live broadcast of the parade in its entirety, streaming in collaboration with Orangevale Live. Viewers can watch Folsom Times Live here beginning at 9 a.m. to experience the patriotic sights and sounds from the comfort of home.
This year’s parade will feature an impressive lineup of floats, marching bands, color guards, equestrian units, and dozens of local civic and community organizations. Participants will stage in the Target/HomeGoods parking lot before stepping off near Montrose Drive. The procession will travel west along East Bidwell Street, turn north onto Coloma Street, and conclude along Natoma Street at City Lions Park, where a brief ceremony will be held at the Veterans Memorial to honor local service members.
To ensure the safety of participants and spectators, the Folsom Police Department will implement temporary road closures. East Bidwell Street will close from approximately 8 to 11 a.m., and Natoma Street between Coloma Street and Wales Drive will close from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. Detours will be clearly marked, and drivers are encouraged to use Riley and School Streets as alternate routes. All closures will be lifted immediately following the parade’s conclusion.
This year’s event marks a significant milestone for one of Folsom’s proudest traditions. What began decades ago as a one-man march by Folsom resident and veteran Wayne Spence has grown into one of the largest Veterans Day observances in the region. Spence’s vision—to ensure every veteran feels recognized for their service—continues to inspire the community, turning his solitary gesture into a beloved civic celebration that thrives today.
