Two men were arrested on organized theft charges Monday afternoon after stealing over $1500 worth of Red Bull energy drink and other items from Folsom retailers.
According to Folsom Police, at approximately 12:50 p.m. on Monday, officers were dispatched to take a theft report at Target located on Blue Ravine Road in Folsom.
The reporting party was able to tell officers that they witnessed two suspects load approximately $500 worth of merchandise into a white vehicle and that the vehicle left the parking, traveling on on Blue Ravine Rd.
Shortly after the report, Folsom Police Officers on patrol spotted the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop nearby.
After identifying the driver and the passenger, officers discovered that the passenger of the vehicle was on probation. The officers then conducted a probation vehicle search.
During the search, officers located more than 60 cases of Red Bull and various other items that had been stolen from Target and other stores in the area. The stolen goods were valued at more than $1500. Additionally, the officers located a small container of methamphetamine in the vehicle.
Rick Buonauro, 54 and Francisco Ocegueda, 30 were both arrested for charges related to organized retail theft, grand theft, and possession of a controlled substance. Both were booked in Sacramento County Jail.
“Red Bull may give you wings, but it certainly didn’t help these thieves get away,” noted the Folsom Police Department ad they shared information of the arrest on social media.
