Artists Deborah Pittman and Laurie Friedman-Adler open shared sculpture exhibition with public reception Jan. 23

FOLSOM — A new exhibition celebrating decades of creative collaboration and shared inspiration opens later this month at the Gallery at 48 Natoma, bringing together the work of artists Deborah Pittman and Laurie Friedman-Adler in a show aptly titled Two Inspirations.

The exhibition opens to the public with a free reception on Friday, Jan. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. The evening will include light refreshments and live music presented in partnership with the Folsom Arts Association and offers the community an opportunity to meet the artists and explore the exhibition firsthand.

Two Inspirations runs through March 19 and highlights the parallel creative journeys of Pittman and Friedman-Adler, whose collaboration began not in a studio, but in a rehearsal room. The two first met as classical clarinetists while studying at the Brooklyn College Conservatory, where their shared musical foundation forged a long-lasting artistic connection. Over time, their creative paths evolved beyond music and into visual art, with Pittman finding her voice through ceramic sculpture and Friedman-Adler working primarily in wood.

Despite working in different materials, the artists’ work reflects a shared artistic language shaped by decades of collaboration, curiosity, and exploration. The exhibition presents a dialogue between form, texture, and rhythm, rooted in their musical past and expressed through sculptural practice.
