Two people were taken to area hospitals with injuries Tuesday evening after a rollover collision on Folsom-Auburn Road that prompted a major emergency response and required firefighters to perform a technical rescue to extricate a trapped occupant.
The crash occurred at 5:50 p.m. at the intersection of Folsom-Auburn Road and Pinebrook Drive, a busy corridor that saw significant delays as first responders worked the scene. Folsom Fire Department units responding to the call included Truck 34, Rescue 21, two engines, and two medic units, arriving within minutes of dispatch.
When firefighters reached the scene, they found one vehicle overturned and another severely damaged. Fire personnel conducted an immediate assessment of all involved and provided medical care while preparing equipment for a technical rescue. Due to the position and condition of the overturned vehicle, crews deployed the Hurst Tool—widely known as the “jaws of life”—to safely extricate an occupant who was unable to exit on their own.
The roadway remained partially closed to through traffic as firefighters, police officers, and paramedics worked for one hour and 13 minutes to stabilize the crash scene, care for patients, and clear debris. A total of two individuals were transported from the scene to area hospitals. Their conditions were not immediately available.
Folsom police officers assisted with traffic control and scene safety as the investigation into the cause of the collision continues.
