Units from the Folsom Fire Department were dispatched to a water rescue in the area of Folsom Lake Crossing Tuesday afternoon for what was later determined to be an apparent suicide.

At 12:19 p.m. units were dispatched to the area after a 911 call.  Two engines from the Folsom Fire Department were among those in response as well rescue boat 35, rescue boat 36, one medic unit and one battalion unit. 

The location of the incident was reported to be on north side of the river in an area of steep cliff areas, below the bridge. Folsom Police are also on scene attempting to access the victim.

Motorists who witnessed the incident reported that the woman quickly pulled her car to the side of bridge, then jumped over the rail of the bridge, clung onto the rail momentarily before she disappeared over the edge. Folsom Police later confirmed that the incident appeared to be that of a suicide and the Sacramento County Coroners Office has published a suicide death record for a 48 year old Roseville woman in its log reports.

Shortly after the call, Folsom Police located the woman, who was reported to be out of the water and unresponsive, first responders were performing CPR on the victim while air support was dispatched to area for the potential medical transportation of the victim. After performing life saving measures for over 20 minutes, authorities reported that the victim had died from her injuries and the incident was reclassified as a recovery operation as the Sacramento County Coroner was dispatched to the scene.

No further details on the victim including the name will be released by this publication due to the personal nature of this incident and in respect to the family at their time of loss
