Units from the Folsom Fire Department and the Folsom Police Department responded to the scene of a vehicle accident on Glenn Drive in Folsom Thursday morning, involving an electrical transformer box, causing the loss of power to some nearby properties.

Following a 911 call, units were dispatched to the scene at 950 Glenn Drive at 11:29 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighters and officers located a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) that had collided head-on into an electrical access unit after previously striking a parked truck just up the road near the Corner Tavern at the intersection of Sibley Street and Glenn Drive.

The vehicle had one occupant, the driver, reportedly with injuries, who was assisted by first responders and transported to a nearby hospital by Folsom’s Medic 36.

According to initial investigations, the driver reportedly suffered some type of medical emergency just prior to striking the parked vehicle. The extent of his injuries is unknown, and the accident continues to be under investigation. Following the accident, there have been reports of power and communications outages in nearby buildings.

Folsom’s Truck 35, Medic 36, and Medic 61 responded to the scene with units from the Folsom Police Department. As of 12:35 p.m. fire and police units remained on scene with local utilities.
