Residents near Golf Links Drive were treated to a special sight Tuesday evening as Vista del Lago High School kicked off its Homecoming week in style as a brief but vibrant celebration filled the street. It was the school’s annual Homecoming Parade, a long standing tradition in Folsom.

As the sun began to settled over the hillside, the parade route that trekked from Empire Oaks Elementary to Vista del Lago High School came to life. Families and locals lined some the roadway, waving to the students and the floats passing by. Vista del Lago’s classes compete for the most creative and school-spirited float, winners will be announced at this week’s football game.

The parade included participation from the Folsom Fire and Police Departments, who made their presence felt with sirens, waves, and smiles, a great reminder for everyone of the strong bond between the locals school and the community. For seniors, this week is bittersweet—one last Homecoming celebration filled with memories, laughter, and the hope of leaving behind a legacy.

With the parade serving as a warm-up to the week’s main event, all eyes are now on Friday night’s Homecoming game at Eagle Stadium. The Vista del Lago Eagles will face off against the Rio Americano Raiders in the opening game of the Capital Valley Conference League within the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section. After going 1-3 in pre-conference play, the Eagles are poised to make a statement in front of their home crowd.
