RANCHO CORDOVA — The Cordova Meadows Elementary community came together this past week to give its school garden a fresh new look, thanks to the generosity and hard work of volunteers from Lowe’s Home Improvement.

A team of seven volunteers — including Lowe’s associates and the parents of Principal Amber Fontaine — spent the day sweeping, painting, and restoring the school’s outdoor learning space. They painted and stained the garden fence, cleaned pathways, and prepared each planting bed for new growth. Their teamwork and dedication transformed the once-faded garden into a vibrant and welcoming area for students to enjoy.

The effort was part of Lowe’s Hometowns initiative, a five-year, $100 million commitment aimed at restoring and revitalizing community spaces across the country. Through the program, Lowe’s provided a grant to fund the improvements, empowering volunteers to make a lasting difference in the local school community.

In addition to the physical work, the Lowe’s team donated new tables, chairs, and benches to complete the garden’s makeover. With in-kind donations valued at nearly $4,000, the result is a rejuvenated space designed for learning, reflection, and connection — a true gift to the students and staff of Cordova Meadows.

Folsom Cordova Unified School District shared its gratitude following the project, stating, “A heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers for embracing a season of growth, gratitude, and community pride. This project is a perfect example of how people working together can help something beautiful take root.”

The project stands as a shining example of how community partnerships can cultivate beauty, pride, and purpose. As the new season begins, the refreshed garden represents more than just flowers and greenery — it’s a symbol of growth, gratitude, and teamwork taking root at Cordova Meadows Elementary.
