Folsom’s unique public art scene is currently missing a piece of its heart—literally.

One of the city’s signature “Heartbeat of Folsom” sculptures has recently vanished from its spot in the downtown plaza between Nara Sushi and Round Table Pizza on Riley Street. The piece, titled The Art of the Trail, stands 36 inches tall, weighs roughly 40 pounds, and was securely mounted as part of the city’s outdoor public art trail.

Unveiled in 2023, the Heartbeat of Folsom project introduced more than two dozen uniquely designed sculptures displayed throughout the city. Each heart was crafted by a local artist and sponsored by businesses or civic organizations to highlight Folsom’s vibrancy and sense of place.

The Art of the Trail, like others in the collection, was designed to inspire residents and visitors alike by showcasing the creativity and spirit of the community. The loss of the sculpture is both emotional and symbolic, prompting many to reflect on the importance of preserving public art and respecting shared spaces.

Anyone with information about the sculpture’s whereabouts is urged to contact Choose Folsom at 916-985-2698. The community has already begun sharing posts on social media to spread awareness and assist in the effort to recover the heart-shaped artwork.
