Members of Folsom City Council and members if city staff have completed their judging and named the winners of the 2023 City of Folsom Holiday Lighting Contest presented by Folsom Times.
The City of Folsom notified the winners Friday morning and has delivered the official “winners” signs accordingly. The staff of Folsom Times and All Town Media LLC will be in contact with each of the winners to arrange delivery of the sponsored prizes.
A total of 44 homes made up 51 total entries to form the playing field for this year’s competition, a record high number of entries. Over $3,000 in prize packages were up for grabs, sponsored by Folsom Times and its advertising partners throughout the community. A total of four categories were just over the past week by city officials, who have announced the winners as follows:
Holly Jolly Residence – best overall residence: 530 Flower Drive
Clark Griswold – best use of holiday lights (residential): 360 Listowe Drive
Hollywood Christmas – best use of theme and/or fictional characters (residential): 152 Witmer Drive
Illuminate the Block – best multi-house display: Ledgemont Court
Merry and Bright Business – festive commercial business display: Bayside Church, 870/890 Glenn Drive

This marks the third year the City of Folsom has organized a community contest of this type. It also marks the first year the event has had sponsorship behind it after the city welcomed a partnership with Folsom Times, which pulled the business community together this year with hearty prize packages and has already secured more interest for next year from many more.
The annual City of Folsom Holiday Lighting Contest first began after Folsom City council member YK Chalamcherla presented the idea just before the holiday season in 2020. What started as a fast paced contest in the heart of the pandemic is now an annual event for years to come, with residents and local businesses all coming together to celebrate the spirit of the holidays with some friendly, festive competition.
