FOLSOM — Construction crews are putting the final touches on one of Folsom’s most anticipated new dining destinations as Yard House prepares to open its doors at Palladio in the early months of the new year.

Inside the nearly completed restaurant space at Folsom’s Palladio shopping center, contractors are actively finishing interior work while management has begun the process of hiring and training staff in advance of opening. Once complete, Yard House will bring its nationally recognized beer-forward dining concept to one of the city’s most prominent commercial corridors.

The new Yard House will be located at 350 Palladio Parkway, Suite 1319, occupying approximately 14,000 square feet. The space was most recently home to fashion retailer Stichic and previously housed Forever 21, marking a significant transformation from retail to full-service dining in that portion of the center.

Founded in 1996, Yard House began in Long Beach, California, with a goal of creating what its founders described as the “world’s greatest taproom.” The concept quickly gained popularity for pairing chef-inspired American cuisine with an unusually large and technically advanced draft beer system. The brand takes its name from a colonial-era tradition in which beer was served in 36-inch-long glasses known as “yards,” a nod that still reflects the chain’s beer-centric identity.

Today, Yard House has grown into a national restaurant brand with nearly 90 locations across the United States. In 2012, the company was acquired for $585 million by Darden Restaurants, the Orlando, Florida-based hospitality company that also owns brands including Olive Garden and Ruth’s Chris Steak House.

According to the company, Yard House locations are known for offering more than 100 beers on tap, supported by complex cooling systems designed to keep beer consistently fresh and cold from keg to glass. Menus feature a wide range of American fusion dishes, including burgers, sandwiches, steaks, seafood, salads and appetizers, with several plant-based options also available.

“At Yard House, our passion for great beer, great food and great music runs deep,” the company says in its brand description, adding that its menu and atmosphere are inspired by its California roots and designed to create a lively, social dining experience.

Yard House is one of several well-known brands that have chosen to call Palladio home in recent months, continuing a wave of high-profile additions to the shopping and entertainment center. Other recent openings include Shake Shack, LOFT, Oz Korean BBQ, and Devons Jewelers, reflecting the center’s growing mix of national brands and specialty retailers.

“Palladio continues to attract the finest local and national retailers, complementing a diverse assortment of shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues,” said Gloria Wright, general manager of Palladio at Broadstone, in a recent press release. “Retailers interested in strong foot traffic recognize that Folsom’s market area and economy is growing.”

The Palladio location will become the third Yard House in the greater Sacramento region, joining existing restaurants at Sacramento’s Downtown Commons and The Fountains at Roseville. An additional Yard House location is also planned in Elk Grove, further expanding the brand’s regional presence.

An official opening date for the Folsom restaurant has not yet been announced just yet, but construction progress, interior buildout and staffing efforts indicate, that day is not far off so stay tuned Folsom!
