Sunday brings community together for Veterans Day fundraiser at The Boardwalk

ORANGEVALE—The Boardwalk in Orangevale is turning up the energy this weekend with two powerful events—Saturday night’s high-voltage Celtic rock performance from the Young Dubliners, followed by a special Veterans Day fundraiser on Sunday that unites live music and community giving.

The Young Dubliners will take the stage Saturday, November 8, bringing their unmistakable blend of Irish folk roots and driving rock energy. Formed in Los Angeles in 1988, the Irish-American quintet—led by Dublin-born Keith Roberts, along with Chas Waltz, Justin Pecot, Dave Ingraham, and Ethan Jones—has spent decades winning fans across the world with their infectious sound and electric live shows.

Praised as “Ireland’s answer to Los Lobos,” the Young Dubliners fuse fiddles, guitars, and traditional Irish storytelling into a sound that’s equal parts folk, punk, and rock. Their music has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and in television series like Sons of Anarchy and Human Target, showcasing a legacy that bridges generations. With new material and a renewed fire on stage, they continue to redefine what modern Celtic rock can be.

Opening the night will be local favorite Stout Rebellion, known for their signature “pub rock” style and high-energy performances. Mixing Celtic drinking songs with punk, 80s pop, and even sea shanties, the band delivers a fun, unpredictable set that’s part tradition, part rebellion. Together, the two acts promise a night that blends the heart of Ireland with the energy of California rock.

Sunday brings community together for Veterans Day fundraiser at The Boardwalk

The weekend continues Sunday, November 9, with a powerful Veterans Day fundraiser benefiting America’s Homeless Veterans (AHV). Presented by American Homeless Veterans, the event will feature live music from Bad Cat, raffles, and a live auction that includes a grand prize drawing for a 2026 Corvette.

Bad Cat, founded in 2022 by Vince Bunio, brings a bold California Delta fusion sound—a dynamic mix of blues, classic rock, and horn-driven energy inspired by icons like the Allman Brothers, Steely Dan, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Their ten-member ensemble fills the room with layered harmonies and powerful instrumentation that celebrate American rock at its finest.

Every ticket sold will help fund AHV’s mission to provide housing, food, and medical support for the more than 48,000 veterans experiencing homelessness nationwide. Through its community programs, donated property projects, and rehabilitation efforts, AHV works to ensure that no veteran is left behind.

The Veterans Day fundraiser begins at 2 p.m. and is open to all ages with a responsible adult. Tickets are available now at www.rocktheboardwalk.com.
