A child is reportedly recovering well Thursday evening, after being struck by a vehicle on a busy Folsom roadway earlier the afternoon. 

Just before 2:30 p.m.  units from Folsom Fire and the Folsom Police Department were dispatched to Blue Ravine Road and East Bidwell Street near the Target retail center Thursday afternoon. Upon their arrival to the scene, first responders tended to a youngster who had been struck by a vehicle. 

The child was reportedly riding a scooter at the time of the incident, which took place shortly after students were released from nearby schools for their early dismal on Thursday and a very busy time on the local roadways.

Numerous motorists stopped to assist at the scene as firefighters, paramedics and Folsom Police  arrived. The young girl was transported to an area hospital for treatment. While the extent of their injuries and specific details about he minor cannot be disclosed due to California Privacy Law, the injuries were not life threatening and the young victim is reportedly recovering Thursday evening. 

The Folsom Police Department has been urging the community to be aware of scooters along the roadways as school is now in session and there is more activity before and after school, as well as for parents to educate their children on scooter safety, laws and to be aware of the many danger on the  busy roads.
