Have you or your little one’s ever wanted to hop into the driver’s seat of a Folsom garbage truck, climb aboard a fire engine, meet your local police officers? Well now is your chance, you can do that and and more at Folsom’s upcoming annual City Works Day on Wednesday, May 17.
Join City of Folsom employees to explore a variety of activities to educate the community about the various departments, programs, amenities, and services within the city. Visitors of all ages are welcome to celebrate the American Public Works Association’s “National Public Works Week.”
“Don’t miss out on the opportunity to experience the inner workings of your city! Get an up-close look at the equipment and skills required to maintain a city during Folsom’s City Works Day,” said Christine Brainerd, communications director for the City of Folsom. “This free event will showcase the city’s programs, amenities, and services, including police vehicles, dump trucks, tractors, garbage trucks, chipper trucks, fire engines, and more. Visitors of all ages are invited to explore and even honk these work vehicles while city staff shares their knowledge about their professions.”
City Works Day will showcase work vehicles, such as special tractors, trucks, and construction equipment for on-board exploration. City staff will be hosting different attractions and sharing knowledge about City of Folsom programs and professions.
Folsom City Works Day will usher in National Public Works Week, which the American Public Works Association sponsors. Every year, the Folsom Public Works Department celebrates City Works Day to commemorate the achievements of Public Works in the daily lives of Folsom residents and celebrate and recognize public works endeavors in cities across the nation.
