Santa has a lot of helpers hard at work around Folsom already and you may have already seen them in action. The Folsom Citizens Assisting Public Safety (CAPS), in partnership with the Folsom Police and Fire departments, are collecting holiday toys and gift items for Folsom families in need, according to a news release from the City of Folsom
The collection will continue through December 8 and there are several ways the community can participate and help, according to information provided by the City of Folsom.
Residents can select to fulfill the specific wish of a child from the Virtual Christmas Tree, choose to receive an Amazon Wish List, or shop for the item locally. Another option is to donate a gift of your choosing for a child, teen, or adult. New, unopened, and unwrapped toys, as well as new clothing or gift cards, may be dropped off at designated gift drop-off locations.
The CAPS Christmas Toy Drive has been providing gifts to families in need in Folsom for over 8 years. The Toy Drive is all made possible by the Folsom’s CAPS, volunteers on behalf of the Folsom Police and Fire Departments, the Folsom Police Foundation and the Folsom Police Officers Association.
Each year, CAPS volunteers work with schools to identify families in need in our community and to collect each child’s Christmas wishes. Wishes are granted by generous community donations and delivered by Folsom Police and Fire Department personnel and CAPS volunteers.
You can also watch for local collection events taking place in the days ahead. Last Saturday, the FPOA set up camp outside Folsom’s Bacchus House where they collected numerous toys from members of the community that came by to make a donation. The FPOA will be out collecting toys again Saturday, Dec. 2 at Lazy Dog Restaurant in Folsom where you can get an early look at Santa’s Sleigh before it hits the streets of Folsom in the coming weeks.
