A section of roadway has been under a lengthy closure Monday evening following a serious accident and an ongoing investigation.
As of 7:05 p.m. Folsom Police continued to have the westbound lanes of Blue Ravine Road at East Natoma are closed to traffic as the department’s crash investigation team continued to collect data and evidence from a collision that involved a motorcycle and a pick up truck, reportedly resulting in serious injuries, according to Folsom Police on scene.
At 4:08 pm units from the Folsom Fire Department were dispatched to a vehicle accident at 24994 Blue Ravine Road. The location is home to the shopping center anchored by the 99 Ranch Market.
According to available dispatch information, fire and medic units completed their response at 5:44 pm after being on scene for a lengthy time more than an hour and a half.
Sgt. David Rojo of the Folsom Police Department confirmed with Folsom Times on the scene that both the motorcyclist and the driver of the truck were transported to nearby hospitals and the extent of their injuries was not released other than the motor cycle rider’s injuries were described as life threatening.
At this time it is unknown how long the roadway will remain closed as crash investigators continue to collect data. This process can be lengthy as it utilized a number of electronic devices to “recreate” an accident scene, collecting key data to determine the cause of the collision.
This is the second serious accident in 72 hours in the city limits of Folsom. Saturday afternoon a cyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle on Willow Creek Drive at the Oak Parkway trail crossing. Law enforcement has not released any additional information on Saturday’s incident during the ongoing investigation and California privacy law.
