She has dedicated decades or her time to the arts and the City of Folsom made sure longtime resident Cleide Sander was recognized for her countless hours of service to the community.

Prior to the most recent Folsom City Council Meeting, the Folsom Arts & Culture Commission presented a Certificate of Accommodation to Sander.  The long-time art instructor is retiring from teaching art classes with the Folsom Parks & Recreation Department, a role she has filled for 27 straight years.

Sander began teaching art classes locally back in October  of 1996.  During her time behind the easel, she taught adult painting classes, most recently at the Folsom Art Center at 48 Natoma.

Originally from Brazil, Sander has thoroughly enjoyed teaching  art to the many students, all of which equally enjoyed having her as an instructor.  According to Folsom Parks and Recreation, she was one of the department’s very first art instructors.

“The Folsom Arts & Culture Commission & our department wish to express our sincere gratitude for the many years that Cleide made lives better,” reads an excerpt from the Accommodation that was presented to Sander as she was surrounded by friends, family and members of the community.
