An earthquake was felt across areas of Sacramento County Wednesday morning, according to a report from the United States Geographical Survey (USGS).

The shake was reportedly strongest in an area approximately  3.1 miles from the community of Isleton and struck at approximately 9:29 a.m., according to preliminary USGS reports.

Initial reports listed the quake being rated at a magnitude of 4.6, that however, is now being downgraded to 4.1 as further information has been analyzed. An alert was sent to cell phone users across the region advising of the quake .

Those in the area have reported feeling the quake across Sacramento County and Placer County including some areas of Folsom, Rancho Cordova and parts of Granite Bay.
