Interested in helping at the Folsom City Zoo? Well now is your chance to do so. Sign ups have opened to register for the 2024 Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary Docent Training class. The class is required for all prospective city zoo docents and the deadline to register is Feb. 5
Folsom City Zoo Docents perform a number of duties at the facility. Among the various tasks, they help host school tours, assist with story times and youth day camps, participate in community events, and help with other ongoing activities.
The training class will cover the zoo sanctuary’s guiding mission and vision, information and facts about the animal residents, and expectations for docent volunteers. Current docents will also share their experiences and the rewards of volunteering.
The docent training class is only offered once each year; the 2024 session begins February 12 and continues through March 18. Docents must be at least age 21; complete required paperwork and register online. Contact Sue Bean at 916-715-8610 or email zoodocents@folsom.ca.us with questions.
