There may be a sixty-percent chance of showers in the forecast, but it won’t counter the forecast of one hundred percent fun that remains to be had Saturday at Folsom’s Lembi Park as the annual Festival of Eggs hops into action. This event takes place rain or shine every year and this year will be no exception as thousands of prize filled eggs and more fun awaits families and young children.

Designed for families with children 10 and under, this annual springtime event will offer several forms of fun for the entire family. Among the festivities will be a pancake breakfast for those wishing to purchase. The festival will offer free kiddie carnival games hosted by the Folsom Teen Council, entertainment, various kid and family-related displays, and lots of hands-on activities.

Topping it all off will be the adventure to fill those Easter baskets with eggs along the Bunny Trail that will take youngsters to numerous stations to visit where little ones can collect goodies and eggs. At the end of the trail, participants can meet the Easter Bunny for a special photo opportunity to commemorate their day. Those who complete every stop listed on the provided Bunny Trail map will receive a ticket for a very special egg hunt and a chance to win a Golden Egg Prize as well.

Worried about the damp weather?  Don’t worry too much as Lembi Park has a covered picnic area and the park and Bunny Trail will be populated with shades and EZ ups to make sure nothing can dampen the fun should Mother Nature make some sporadic visits.

Kids ages 6 and under should arrive from 8 to 9:30 a.m., and ages 7 to 10 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Remember to bring their baskets to collect all those eggs and prizes. Guests will pick up their Bunny Trail Map upon entry to the park.

Join the bunny at the end of the trail for a special photo op to commemorate your day. Those who complete every stop listed on the map will receive a ticket for a special egg hunt and a chance to win a Golden Egg Prize. Prior to the event, the City of Folsom relies on volunteers to prep for the big event and is currently seeking volunteer egg stuffers help stuff more than 25,000 eggs with candy and prize slips for Folsom Parks & Recreation’s annual Festival of Eggs community event.

The Festival of Eggs event is inspired by what Folsom used to call its Annual Spring Extravaganza event. The event was reimagined last year to accommodate the hundreds of youngsters that attend in new ways, as opposed to just a traditional crowded dash for eggs where many little ones often used to come up short when it comes to finding those eggs with the large crowd.
