A routine traffic stop resulted in the arrest of a Sacramento man with a loaded firearm who was wanted on several warrants late Thursday night in Folsom’s Historic District
Just before midnight Thursday, June 23, an a Folsom Police patrol officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop near the intersection of Riley Street and Scott Street.
Upon contact and initial investigation, the officer learned that one of the occupants was on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) Probation for a prior firearm related charge, while the a occupant, later identified at Charles McGee, 29, of Sacramento had five outstanding warrants for his arrest.
Folsom Police deployed K9 Astro, who is trained in firearm detection. The K9 immediately alerted officers to the vehicle. With the K9 alert, along with the PRCS status of one of the occupants, officers proceeded with conducting a search of the vehicle.
During the search, a loaded firearm with an extended magazine was located. Officers determined the firearm was reported stolen out of Stockton. McGee was booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail for multiple warrants and numerous felony firearm charges. According to the Folsom Police report, the other occupant of the vehicle was reportedly not charged.
