A Folsom School has been cleaned up after it was reportedly vandalized this week with spray painted messages considered hate speech.
A large mural at Gold Ridge Elementary School located on Halidon Way in Folsom that is designed to promote “universal kindness,” with artwork of the different planets was spray painted with hate messages over the weekend.
A total of 13 different areas of the school were reportedly vandalized in a similar manner. The damage was discovered Sunday morning.
The damage was cleaned up and repaired prior to the arrival of students on Monday, according to Angela Griffin Ankhelyi of the Folsom Cordova Unified School District.
“Facilities sent a crew to clean up the graffiti before students arrived on campus that following Monday morning,” said Ankhelyi.
The Folsom Police Department and school officials are investigating the incident. Investigators are asking anyone in the area that may have any security footage to contact the Folsom Police Department.
