A traffic stop in the city of Folsom Tuesday afternoon resulted in officers arresting a 41-year-old Sacramento man and the seizure of an illegal “ghost” gun he had in his possession.
According to a report from the Folsom Police Department, at approximately about 2:30PM on Tuesday, a Folsom officer on patrol stopped a car for a vehicle code violation in the area of Wales Drive and East Bidwell Street.
Upon investigation, officers soon discovered the driver had an outstanding felony arrest warrant, for being a felon in possession of a firearm on an earlier occasion. Officers then discovered the man was on both probation and parole for varying convictions.
After arresting the man, a search of the vehicle located an apparent homemade gun in the vehicle. These guns are often called “ghost guns” because they don’t have serial numbers and are difficult to trace, according to the report.
The driver was identified as Joseph Sixtoe, an apparently known transient from Sacramento. Sixtoe was booked into the Sacramento County jail for the existing arrest warrant and new charges relating to being in Possession of a Firearm as a Felon.
