Motorists traveling west bound Highway 50 towards Rancho Cordova experienced a delay Sunday morning when all lanes were closed while law enforcement responded to an individual reportedly standing outside of the fencing of the pedestrian bridge in Rancho Cordova.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident and was able to detain the individual. It is unknown if the individual was intending to jump into Highway 50.
According the reports, the individual that has been detained was armed with a knife. After being closed for several minutes, all westbound lanes were reopened, however the traffic back up created slow travels thereafter.
At this time no other details have been released by law enforcement.
