The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office has officially identified the woman whose body was discovered in Folsom Lake earlier this month and originally classified as “Jane Doe.”

The woman has been identified  as Natalee Heilaman, a 27-year-old resident of San Francisco. The discovery of Heilaman’s body took place near Rattlesnake Bar, close to the North Fork of the American River, by an individual engaged in recreational activities on August 19.

The person promptly contacted 911 upon finding the body. Notably, Natalee Heilaman had been reported as missing in Nevada County back in January, according to Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. Kyle Parker.

Heilaman was last seen on Jan. 13 after she drove around a law enforcement road block, then exited her vehicle and reportedly jumped into the Confluence from the Northern Fork American River Bridge near Auburn when she was swept away by the fast moving current.
