A Folsom business whose owner has been making headlines on national television has earned another great recognition. Assemblyman and Folsom resident Josh Hoover announced last week that Julian’s Patisserie and Café has been named the March 2025 Small Business of the Month for the 7th Assembly District.

Founded in 2017 by Chef Julian Jimenez and his wife, Bailey, this exceptional local bakery has become a cherished part of the region, delighting customers with artisan croissants, fresh-baked pastries, and handcrafted desserts.

In his official resolution, Assemblyman Hoover stated that Julian’s Patisserie and Café ‘serves members of the community and represents the positive impact of family-owned businesses.’

The café, which now boasts two successful locations, has grown to serve a wider region of Northern California while remaining a beloved fixture in Folsom. ‘Julian and Bailey now own two successful locations, expanding their operations and serving a wider region of Northern California,’ Hoover’s resolution noted, highlighting the couple’s commitment to growing their business while maintaining a strong connection to their hometown.

Supported by his parents, Michael Jimenez and Susan Marangi, as well as his uncle, David Jimenez, Julian’s Patisserie and Café exemplifies the positive impact of family-owned businesses.

Julian’s passion for baking began in his grandmother’s kitchen, where he first discovered the joy of creating delicious pastries. ‘Julian found his love for baking in the kitchen alongside his grandmother,’ Hoover’s resolution reads, ‘he then spent many years growing his skills and gaining experience in various renowned resorts and cruise lines, and eventually decided to bring his passion back to his hometown.’

Honoring his roots, Julian has dedicated himself to using his craft to bring people together, preserving the sense of warmth and community that small businesses contribute to neighborhoods.

Assemblyman Hoover praised Julian’s dedication, acknowledging the café as an example of excellence, service, and family in the 7th Assembly District.

His journey took him from the family kitchen to the world of fine dining, honing his craft aboard Norwegian Cruise Lines in Hawaii and later serving as Executive Pastry Chef at prestigious Las Vegas resorts, including Bellagio, Cosmopolitan, and Caesars Palace. Despite his success on the national stage, Julian’s heart remained in his hometown of Folsom, where he returned to open Julian’s Patisserie and Café in 2017.

In addition to running a thriving business, Julian is making waves on the national stage, competing in this season of Food Network’s Spring Baking Championship.
