When it comes to the high school football season, it’s go time for all three area teams tonight as they take to the field for semi-final playoff action. The Folsom Bulldogs and Vista del Lago Eagles will play on their home turf for tonight’s match ups, the Oak Ridge Trojans are on the road for tonight’s big game

For the top seeded Folsom Bulldogs, the opponent is Inderkum High School who makes the short haul to Prairie City Stadium from the Natomas Unified School District Friday Night. Paul Doherty’s Bulldogs enter Friday’s CIF Sac-Joaquin Division I semi-final with a 9-2 record. Inderkum should be a good match up, coming into Friday’s game at 11-1.

“Those kids will be excited to play, and our kids will be excited to play, said Doherty, who knows Inderkum will be coming to Folsom full throttle Friday. “It will be physical and it will be fun.”

Game time for the Bulldogs is  7:00 Friday at Prairie City Stadium.

Vista hosts Patterson at home: At Vista del Lago, the Eagles will be hosting Patterson Friday night. For the Eagles, this marks the third time they have reached the semi-finals since the school came about in Folsom.  The Eagles have had a strong season with a 10-1 record which works in their favor tonight by bringing the match up to their own stadium. Patterson, however, has a two hour trip Friday and if things go the way the Eagles hope, that two hour ride could seem longer for the Tigers who are also 10-1 on the season.

“If our defense continues to do what they’ve been doing, and our offense is firing on the cylinders it’s been firing on, I think we will be fine,” said Vista head coach Kyle Landes, who coached his team to a 48-7 victory over Rio Americano in the first leg of the Capital Valley League playoffs last Friday night.

Oak Ridge travels to Central Catholic for slugfest: The Oak Ridge Trojans will hit the road to Central Catholic of Modesto Friday night. Oak Ridge and Central Catholic both enter Friday’s match up at 9-2.

With 20 section championship to their record, Central Catholic is expected to give Oak Ridge a battle Friday night in a match up that should be quite the slugfest. Not only does this game require the Trojans to make the long haul to Modesto, Central Catholic’s field is actual real turf rather than the artificial turn the Trojans are accustomed to at home and most local stadium.

Weather could be another factor in Friday’s game and don’t leave out the fact that Central is known for their size and dominance on the field.

“We’re a pretty big team, but Central Catholic is bigger. They are good at dominating the clock too,” said head coach Casey Taylor. “We have to play really well and take care of the football. We have to play well on defense too.”
