A pedestrian was struck and killed near an Orangevale crosswalk Saturday evening.
At 7:23 pm. first responders were dispatched to Main Avenue in Orangevale, just south of the intersection of Greenback Lane after reports of a vehicle striking a pedestrian.
According to the incident report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the victim was a man described to be in his 40’s. The victim reportedly began walking in the roadway, just outside of a crosswalk on Main Avenue.
The victim was reportedly struck by a southbound vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the CHP reports, it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident. The driver of the car stopped and remained on scene. The accident investigation continues and the name of the victim is being withheld, pending notification of family and release by the Sacramento County Coroners Office.
One engine and one medic unit from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department responded to the incident and remained on scene. CHP and the Sacramento County Sheriffs Department also responded to the incident.
