If you like playing cornhole and like contributing to a good cause, as they team with the California Cornhole Association and present Cornhole for a Cause at the Folsom Community Center next month. 

While event isn’t slated to take place until Aug. 19, now is the time to form your team and register for this event before the roster fills up. The organization has various levels of registration, all of which benefit a pair of good causes including the non-profit Friends of Lakes Folsom and Natoma along the Twin Lakes Food Bank.

When it comes to FOLFAN, Cornhole for a Cause will specifically benefit the Native Plant Nursery and Interpretive Gardens Native Plant Nursery and Interpretive Gardens at Black Miners Bar. The Rotary Club of Folsom has partnered with FOLFAN, the Rotary Club of Folsom Lakes and California State Parks on a multi-year project to construct the native plant nursery and interpretive gardens at the historical park site. 

Gardens will also be the focus when it comes to benefitting the Twin Lakes Food Bank this year. Proceeds from Cornhole for a Cause will focus on garden rehabilitation at the local food bank. The Rotary Club of Folsom has an long ongoing partnership with Twin Lakes Food Bank. Last year the service club tackles the task of replacing the food bank roof and replaced a shed destroyed that was destroyed in a winter storm. This year the club will focus on expanding the food bank’s garden and rebuilding the loading dock and its facility.

Cornhole for a Cause will commence at 2:00 p.m. on August 19 indoors at the Folsom Community Center. To register as a team or a spectator, you can visit the event website at www.rotarycornhole4acause.org. 

“We’ve moved Cornhole for a Cause indoor this year so come join us for some air conditioned FUNdraising,” said Rotary President Justin Raithel. “Funds raised will go to some great projects right here in Folsom! The California Cornhole Association always does a great job with running tournaments and we’re happy to have them back to host ours.”

The entry fee for a team is $200. A team entry includes entry into the competition, event swag, unlimited food and drink during the event and eligibility to win many different prizes.  The fun isn’t just for adults, kids can enter the event and receive all the same perks as well. The entry fee for a kid’s team is $100.

Not skilled at tossing the bean bag? Not a problem. You can even register as a spectator for the event and watch the competition while enjoying unlimited food for $25 per person, however, you’ll need to pay for those drinks if you aren’t competing. 

The event is scored and sanctioned by the California Cornhole Association. Guaranteed payout for the advanced division will be $1000. The social divison grand prize will win a brew day with a local brewery which comes with 10 gallons of complimentary beer.
