A traffic collision Monday afternoon near the Sacramento/El Dorado County line snarled traffics and resulted in multiple victims reportedly being transported for medical care.

At 3:29 pm on Monday afternoon, units from both Folsom and El Dorado Hills Fire Departments were dispatched to the area of  Green Valley Road between Sophia Parkway and Shadowfax Lane for a traffic accident involving two vehicles. 

Upon arrival to the scene, first responders observed a while sports utility vehicle (SUV) that had rolled over several times and a white pick up truck over the embankment.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) incident report, witnesses reported that the driver of the white pick up driver was observed driving recklessly just prior to the incident. 

Witnesses reported that the pick up truck travelled into the oncoming lane where the driver of the SUV reportedly swerved to avoid a collision and rolled over thereafter.

When firefighters arrived, the SUV was resting on its side. The El Dorado Hills Fire Department reports that, “several patients were assessed by paramedics and transported to area hospitals.”

The incident brought traffic to a near standstill in both directions of Green Valley Road and a back up into the afternoon commute.  CHP reported that the incident had been cleared at 5:16 pm. 

At this time the number of victims, and the extent of their injuries remains unknown.  A total of three medic units were used to treat and transport patients.
