An attempted robbery in Historic Folsom resulted in the arrest of two individuals over the holiday weekend, according to a report that was released by the Folsom Police Department Tuesday morning.
Just before 1am on Sunday a group of people approached an officer who was on an unrelated traffic stop on Wool Street near Leidesdorff Street, to report an attempted robbery. The victims reported that a man had approached them near their vehicle, and pointed a gun at them. He demanded their wallets and threatened to shoot them. The victims did not give up their wallets. After noticing the police car down the block, the suspect left and got into a nearby vehicle. The suspect vehicle fled the area, but was quickly located a few blocks away when the officer broadcasted the description to other officers in the area.
The suspect was located, as was the loaded pistol believed to have been used in the attempted robbery. Officers also learned the suspect was on parole. That suspect, Carlos Ramos Lopez, 31, of Elk Grove, was booked into the Sacramento County Jail for robbery, assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon, and criminal threats.
The driver of the vehicle, Elisio Montoya, 31 of Olivehurst, was determined to have been under the influence of alcohol, and was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Jail for DUI.
