Jennifer Bassett, Founder and Executive Director of the nonprofit organization Hands4Hope – Youth Making A Difference, has been named one of the 2023 “Women Who Mean Business” honorees. Each year, the Sacramento Business Journal recognizes exceptional women who have made significant contributions in their respective industries within the Sacramento region through this program.
In its fifteen years of existence under Jennifer’s vision and leadership, Hands4Hope has grown from 12 youth participants to more than 650. It now has presence in 13 schools and works with over 40 nonprofit agencies in Sacramento and El Dorado Counties. During the last year alone, Hands4Hope youth participants created and implemented 227 service projects serving over 10,000 individuals in need.
“Being honored among the capital region’s top female movers and shakers reinforces that Hands4Hope – Youth Making A Difference has made a great enough impact on the community and the youth in it to be recognized and celebrated,” said Bassett. “Our staff and team know we’re making a real difference in the lives of the youth involved, and we have the joy of seeing them blossom, build skills, confidence, and friendships, and find their passion, so to be recognized regionally for this work is beyond exciting.”
“Jennifer’s passion is youth development, helping them understand and utilize their strengths while connecting with their communities to help fill unmet needs,” said Andrea Howard, Board Chair of Hands4Hope. “She believes in creating a safe place for all youth, no matter their background, to come together, learn about the struggles of others, and empower them so they will take it upon themselves to make a substantial and meaningful impact in the lives of others. In doing so, youth feel more connected to their community, have a better understanding of the power they wield, and learn critical skills that they will use for the rest of their lives.”
