A  31-year-old man who allegedly robbed a Folsom jewelry store and assault an employee was located and has been arrested in San Joaquin County through a cooperative effort by Folsom and Stockton Police Departments.

Last Thursday, Folsom Police officers were dispatched to Kay Jewelers at 13000 Folsom Boulevard for a reported robbery that occurred. During the robbery, the suspect, wearing a unique cap, reportedly grabbed jewelry from the case and assaulted a store employee, according to police reports.

A customer came to the aid of the employee during the assault. As the suspect fled the store, they threatened to kill the employee and left in a blue Honda Accord. A second witness at the scene was able to provide officers a license plate number for the suspect vehicle.

During their investigation, Folsom Police Detectives were able to trace the vehicle to a location in Stockton and worked with the Stockton Police Department to located and apprehend the suspect. 

Stockton Police officers attempted to stop the vehicle for vehicle code violations. The suspect driver led the Stockton Police officer on a short vehicle pursuit and then fled on foot. As they ran from the officer, the suspect dropped a firearm. They then barricaded themselves in an apartment on the 1500 Block of Arriba Avenue.

After two and a half hours, the suspect left the residence and was arrested. A search warrant was executed on the vehicle and the apartment and clothing that matched the items the suspect wore during the robbery at Kay Jewelers, including the unique cap were located.

The suspect, Odell Jones, 31, of Stockton was arrested and booked in San Joaquin County Jail where he faces charges related to the vehicle pursuit and is awaiting extradition to Sacramento County to face charges for the robbery.
