22nd Annual entertainment fundraiser benefits Folsom High School Music Boosters

Mother Nature has changed her attitude this week and the Folsom High School Music Boosters couldn’t be happier. Friday evening the non-profit organization will host one of its biggest fundraisers, the annual Wine, Cuisine and Jazz event, in Folsom’s Historic District and tickets for the event are still available.

Celebrating its 22nd year, the Wine, Cuisine and Jazz Fundraiser is for ages 21 and over and tickets can be purchased I advance online at www.folsommusic.org. A limited number of tickets will also be available at the door for the event for those making a last minute decision to attend, according to Julie Lindsay, president of the Folsom High School Music Boosters.

Using the term, “at the door,” is merely a phrase when it comes to attending this event as no doors are involved. The event takes place under dusk lit skies in and around the Zittel Family Amphitheater in the Historic Folsom Plaza. The event moved from the community center to the outdoor location in the wake of COVID-19 precautions and it became such a hit for attendees, the venue has since remained.

“This event creates a fun energy here and it’s all for a great cause,” said Judy Collinsworth, executive director for the Folsom Historic District Association. The amphitheater is a great venue for the music boosters and guests, and it brings a great group of visitors to enjoy the district before and after.”

Bannered as Folsom’s premiere wine and cuisine event, entertainment will be provided by the award-winning Folsom High School jazz bands and jazz choir led by the award-winning maestro and music director Curtis Gaessar who has his eyes set on retirement for the Folsom Cordova Unified School District at the end of the school year. The high school performers will be joined by the talents of students from Sutter Middle School at the Zittel Family Amphitheater in the heart of the district.

Attendees will have the opportunity to taste a variety of wines from our local region, sample food from local restaurants while browsing silent auction tables featuring many exciting items to bid on, all in the spirit of benefitting Folsom’s aspiring music students.

The event takes place from 6 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday night. According to volunteers from the Folsom Music Boosters, tickets are $45 for general admission, which includes a commemorative glass and unlimited tastings from local wineries and restaurants. A nonprofit organization established more than 20 years ago, the Music Boosters provide volunteer support for festivals, football games, parades, community events and fundraising in support of the music programs at Folsom High School.

The Zittel Family Amphitheater is located at 200 Wool Street in Folsom. The city parking garage at 905 Leidesdorff Street provides plenty of parking and short walk to the location of the event.  For any additional information visit www.folsommusic.org.
